Covid-19 Information

We are eagerly anticipating the lifting of travel restrictions into France through 2021. We anticipate that our program will go ahead in Jan 2022 so you may apply now to reserve your space. Your deposit and any tuition is fully refundable in the event that our program is cancelled. We will set our protocols according to what France requires when they once again allow US travel for tourism purposes. At a minimum, we anticipate that proof of a negative Covid-19 test and/or proof of Covid-19 vaccination will be required. We will be in touch 60 days before departure to let you know the final Covid protocols for the program.

 

What is the weather like in Normandy?

Winter in Normandy is actually much milder than you might think. Temps range from the high 40's to high 60's most days.  It’s not uncommon for it to be pouring in the morning and bright sun in the afternoon! Students should make sure to follow our packing list carefully and come prepared for all weather.

Do you provide airport transfers?

Yes. Our staff will meet you at the arrivals area and transport you by private coach to the program. We will take you to the airport when the program ends, get you checked in and see you through security.

Do I need a passport or visa?

Yes. Your passport must be valid for 6 months after the date you return to the United States. We will also provide you with a letter to state your intent in France and that you do not intend on staying in the country past your 90-day visa.

What is the supervision like on the program?

Our faculty and staff live on site with students and are available at all times for emergencies. We live in community and contribute collectively to the running of our residence. Group activities run Mon-Fri and weekends are mostly free time or optional activities. 

What is your policy with regards to alcohol?

Wine will be served in moderation at the evening meal as part of educating our students about French wine and responsible alcohol consumption. Students are not allowed to purchase and possess alcohol on campus outside of what is served at the evening meal.

What’s not included?

Tuition does not include roundtrip airfare to Paris, France, supplemental health insurance and some lunches on days out. We will provide you with a recommended budget.

Do you provide meals and accommodation?

All accommodation and meals are provided for and included with your tuition with the exception of lunches on our days out. We have a live-in chef who also teaches cooking. Students are housed in double or triple rooms separated by gender with shared bathroom facilities. The house has Wifi, a student lounge, fireplace room and student kitchen for use.

What if I need medical care?

France has excellent medical care and we have a relationship with the local doctor who is familiar with our programs about 5 minutes away. Cherbourg has a world-class hospital only 20 minutes away. All of our staff are first-aid trained and live in residence with our students to provide round the clock emergency care.

Will my phone work?

Some international phones will work but rates are expensive. We suggest that students use Whats App/Facebook Messenger/Viber or Facetime to keep in touch.

Do you have laundry facilities?

Yes. We have washing machines for use and, as it typical in France, no tumble dryer. Clothes must be hung dry.

Do you have Wifi?

Yes. We have high speed Wifi available. Students are encouraged to bring phone and laptops but please note that phones are not allowed to be in use during workshops.

What about free time?

Sundays are a free time day with no planned activities or excursions. Many evenings are free or offer optional activities.

Can my family and friends come visit?

Yes! Family and friends are welcome but must find accommodation nearby. We can assist family and friends with visiting and finding accommodation.

What if I can’t swim?

If you can’t swim you will not be able to participate in any water-based activities. We will find alternate activities for you to participate in.

What are the qualifications of activity providers?

We use only fully qualified and insured activity providers to lead any activity on our programs.
